Thursday 4th May Bit of a problemette on the catering front this morning - no bread! Although canals are optimised for public (house) access, bakeries are not afforded the same priority! It was decided to proceed with the original plan and we left Hawkesbury Junction along the North Oxford Canal heading towards Napton Junction, completing our circular tour. We picked up bread etc at a grocers store about a mile down the canal and sailed for an hour or so to Stretton Stop, where an enterprising boatyard sports an extensive range of gifts, beads and trinkets, etc - ideal for appeasing the spouse; thus enabling next years trip. Armed with Rosie and Jim tea-towels we sailed again, in glorious heat by now as far as Newbold-on-Avon where we stopped for lunch. Sadly the chip shop had closed by the time we needed it, so we had to return to the pub till 5pm when it opened again. The rest of the day, as they say, is history ...
