The best canal trips are one-way but they get harder to find for just one week. It was quite a trip back to Trevor from Bollington by minibus. This was from the Anglo Welsh base at Trevor to their base at Bollington (now closed, moved to New Mills) via the Trent and Mersey and Macclesfield canals.
I think all the following information is correct, there must be some photos and more information out there so this is all included to prompt your memories, prove me wrong!
It seems there were 8 crew this trip, Simon Gates, Steve Platt, Mike Newport, John Parmenter (Captain), Adrian King, David King, Martin Cranage and Colin Havercroft. (BUCKINGHAM OR MONTROSE AGAIN ?) was a big boat afterall!
Here is a report from Colin Havercroft. I am now sure that the date of this trip is 1993, not 1988, and have put Colin's report there. I am sure of this because Judith has found my letter home for 1993 and the contents match Colin's recollections well.
(Ed note: I am not complaining about the discrepancies Colin, it just goes to show how hard it is to recall 20 years later, and the importance of keeping diaries!!!. Please keep looking for more photos and notes. Also sorry about being missed of the role of honour of club members. A large chunk of records are missing from the club shack and the new webmaster was going by these records. You really should have flagged it up a long time ago, you are there now!)
